Embraer

1.Embraer aircraft:

•  Second fully modified Embraer aircraft for India developed Airborne early warning system and control(AEW&C) at Sao polo Brazil.
• Center for Airborne sytems (CABS) Banglore is the executing unit of the project,under DRDO.
• AWEC is an airborne RADAR system that can detect aircraft at long ranges nearly 400km away and direct command centre for engagement.
• Also used for ground surveillance,can differentiate own and enemy aircrafts.

                                             

2.Artemisinin resistant Malaria:

• Genome of Plasmodium falciparum sequenced. 7 specific genomes of chromosome 13 causes resistance.
• Artemisinin resistance results in slow clearance rate of the parasite in the blood after treatment.

Lifecycle of Malaria

                                    

1. Mosquito borne disease,five different strains cause the disease, mainly caused by Plasmodium falciparum, others P.vivax, P.ovale,P.malariae,P.knowlesi.
2. Primary host mosquito: Female Anopheles. Reproduces  sexually in the mosquito's gut then through saliva injected in to humans
3. In humans two phases: exoerythrocytic, in liver cells reproduce asexually, burst open the cells reach red blood corpuscles(RBC). erythrocytic, inside RBC reproduce asexually, burst open to infect new RBCs.
4. Symptoms: cold and fever alternating,(repeated alternating bouts of fever every 26-38 hours),shivering, arthralgia, vomiting, haemorhage,retinal damage.
5. Immune system cannot detect as the Protists(Eukaryotes that are not falling under any other kingdom of classification, no specialisation of cells in to tissues,may be uni or multicellular) as they are inside either liver or RBC cells.
6. Treatment: Quinine, Chlororquine, Artemisinin. Resistance to many drugs lately shown by the parasites.
7. prevention by avoiding collection of water, or killing of mosquitoes mostly pursued.
